Sangfor WAN Optimisation
Sangfor's range of WAN Optimisation solutions delivers significant
improvement in WAN performance for all types and sizes of
organisation - business, government and education. From an entry-level
product offering 6 Mbps optimised bandwidth and up to 300 optimised
connections through to 155
Mbps and 15,000 connections
for the top of the range product,
all organisations and
budgets are catered for.
Sangfor's solutions can
realistically achieve 30-60%
reduction in data transmitted, bandwidth utilisation increases of 30-80%
and data transfers up to 60 times faster. The result is a more efficient
WAN and higher productivity from users.
WAN Optimisation
Sangfor ensures that a WAN operates at peak efficiency by
incorporating a device at each of its
connection points.
These devices handle all data
transmitted over the WAN and use
two main strategies to make sure the
data goes at the fastest possible
speed:
•
Compression packs the data
down so that there is less to
send, meaning that
transmission times are
reduced. Once data is received
at its destination, it is unpacked
and restored to its original
form.
•
Caching avoids data having to
be sent repeatedly to the same
destination and so prevents
unnecessary transmission.
When data is sent for the first
time, details are recorded at
the sending device. If the same
data is sent again to the same destination, only a tag needs to be
sent since the local copy of the data can be used. Updated
copies of data are identified so that only changes are sent with
the tag.
These two strategies alone typically cause data transmitted over
networks to be reduced by 30-60%. This can lead to bandwidth
utilisation falling by up to 80% and data transfers being up to 60 times
faster. Best of all, this all happens automatically with no user
involvement and minimal configuration. Once the appliances are
connected, everything continues to work. The only change that users
will notice is that things happen much quicker.
Improvements are most significant when there are high levels of
latency, which is a measure of the time taken to send a data packet to
its destination. This delay increases with distance since the time a
transmission takes to reach its destination cannot be altered. However,
effectively reducing the amount of data that is sent can significantly
improve overall transmission times, especially over long distances.
Additionally, ensuring only full packets are sent will also increase
efficiency.
Sangfor's Novel Approach
WAN optimisation providers are traditionally big players that deliver
relatively high cost solutions in large volumes. Because of this, the
suppliers tend to concentrate on large businesses, top tier enterprises,
leaving the middle tier marketplace and SMEs largely unserved.
Sangfor is different. Whilst employing the same technology as the
market leaders, it provides this in a form that delivers the same
improved performance, but at 50% of the cost. The range of devices is
broad and can cater for large multinational enterprises as well as
smaller local branch offices and home-based workers.
Sangfor's base model has 6 Mbps optimised bandwidth and supports
300 optimised connections. This compares to the 1 Mbps and 100
connections that are typical for most entry-level products, which
nevertheless cost significantly more. All organisations therefore have
the opportunity to make significant cost savings while gaining efficient
performance using proven technology from an established business.
The company's commitment to SMEs as well as larger businesses is
reflected in the level of help it provides. This comprises truly local
support that covers the full process from pre-sales advice through to
installation and then on-going assistance while the equipment is in
place. Those buying from Sangfor get much more than equipment. They
also get lifelong support from a friendly company that really wants to
help them succeed.
Sangfor IAM (Internet Access
Management)
Beyond filtering, Sangfor IAM (Internet Access Management) delivers
visibility of bandwidth and application activity to IT managers and the
tools necessary for managers to set policies to control
risk and
improve network performance.
Internet utilisation through the
public or private cloud is the
primary choice for
organisations to leverage
business opportunities and create
closer
customer relationships. A cost effective and mature platform, more and
more businesses, universities and schools have deployed mission
critical applications over the Internet in the past 10 years. The trend is
accelerating and generating unprecedented demand for new uses and
applications to leverage its power.
With great opportunity however comes ever increasing risk. Safe
guarding intellectual property, protecting against external intrusions,
minimizing data loss, improving security, simplifying complex network
management are key IT management challenges. Superior enterprise
Internet management tools are needed more than ever for the over
burdened IT department.
