Force NoSSL on Google!

Google’s HTTPS-driven services have caused issues for organisations worldwide over recent months, allowing inappropriate content to go uninspected.

Users who have been using Smoothwall HTTPS filtering won’t have seen any issue, but those who don’t may have seen the potential for circumvention of filtering policies. For those users Smoothwall have created the following solution:

In the GUI, browse to “Guardian > Content Modification > Create Policy” and create a policy with the following settings:
Who: [Select group you wish to apply the rule to]
What: Web Search
Where: [Select location]
Action: Google NoSSLSearch Feature
Enabled: Ticked
Save and, if needed, move the rule up the policy table.
